Different Types of Engagement Rings
Solitaire rings; these are the quintessential classic engagement rings, the solitaire ring consists of a band and a gem stone; the band could be made from any material of your choice ranging from gold to platinum while the gemstone should also be chosen to fit your peculiar characteristics, it could be diamonds or sapphire cut in different ways that would be explained below.
Engagement Rings with Side stones: These exquisite rings are made with gemstones inserted into the sides of the band, which can be made of any metal material depending on your taste. Some side stones ring also come with a central stone at the middle. The popular gemstones used for this design of rings are usually diamonds but you can personally customize your gemstone to the taste of your love.
The Three Stone Rings or the Trinity ring: this is a ring design with its own romantic history, it is believed that each stone in the three stone ring symbolizes the past, present and future of the time in which a couple has spent together and the ring would bind them together for all eternity. The ring design is that of an immaculate platinum band with three exquisite gemstones; one at the middle with two place strategically by the sides. The gemstones are usually mad of diamonds but you are allowed to customize yours into three different types of gemstones if you so desire.
The Matching Bridal Set: this is a beautiful combination of both the engagement ring and the actual wedding band, there is no set design on how a matching bridal set should look like but it is generally good to have either the engagement ring or the wedding ring accentuating the other and vice versa I.e. an exquisite platinum engagement ring with a gemstone should be paired with a simple Gold classic wedding band, providing the bride with a touch of colour.
Tension Rings: let the name not act as a barrier to you when considering the tension ring for it is one of those designs we call simple but indefinitely classy, it consists of a band made from any material of your choice, tightly holding a gemstone in its grip with pressure i.e. the gemstone is not held by prongs but clasped in between the two sides of the band material you chose. The band material serves as its holding support. It is highly recommended you go for two contrasting colours for the band and the gemstone to bring out the true beauty of the tension ring.

What is a diamond solitaire ring? Simple. A diamond solitaire ring is a ring with one diamond. That's all. Just one diamond. Nothing else to distract from that one magnificent stone.
Why are diamond solitaire engagement rings the best engagement rings? Well firstly because they are a diamond ring. Diamonds are the best of all jewelry stones available to the serious jewelry buyer. And there are a lot of other stones out there. All sorts of colored stones, diamond copies, diamond simulants and so on. Most of them beautiful stones.
But none of them are diamonds.
Why are there so many diamond copies, man made diamonds? Because diamonds are the best, and it is the best that is copied.
Your engagement ring is one of the most important buying decisions you will ever make. Think about it. What else can you buy that will be with you for life?
Your house? No, not really, most people keep a house for a few years and then move on. Your car? Never!
Is there anything? I can't think of anything that is more enduring than a diamond solitaire engagement ring. Nothing else that goes through life with you. So if it's that important then get a good one. Once you've got it then it's too late to change your mind.
And why diamonds? Why not some other type of beautiful jewelry stone?
Diamonds represent the ultimate. The best. There is no better jewelry stone than a diamond, and no more expensive. By buying a diamond you're saying "only the best for us". You're making a commitment that you are prepared to spend some serious money on the one most important and enduring purchase you will ever make. Your diamond solitaire ring.
And why a solitaire ring? There are lots of beautiful rings with diamonds.
Thousands of styles, a whole world of choices. Why choose a diamond solitaire ring?
Just because that's what it is. A solitaire. You are getting the biggest diamond for your money. One that stands out. One that people will admire.
There are some beautiful three stone diamond rings. Magnificent rings. But not solitaires. Three small diamonds just don't cut it like one large one.
Diamond engagement rings have a long and proud tradition. The giving of a diamond engagement ring to a woman as a symbol of a promise to marry began in 1477 with the engagement of Archduke Maximillian of Austria and Mary of Burgundy. The Archduke selected a diamond engagement ring and his decision has been copied ever since.
It was even said then that cupids arrows were tipped with diamonds which imbued the couple with the magic of love.
Diamond solitaire rings encapsulate that magic of love.
Diamond engagement rings have a symbolism from centuries past. They are the ultimate in engagement rings. And diamond solitaire rings are the ultimate in diamond engagement rings.
Jewelry Dallas:
Is it customary to mark the engagement ring or present?
This is entirely a question of personal taste. Frequently the ring or present is engraved on the inside with Caroline's and Mark's initials and the date of the engagement.
When may Caroline wear her engagement ring?
After the formal announcement is made. This applies also to any present made in place of a ring. Note: The engagement may be announced, however, without an engagement ring or present.
Avior Wedding Rings Texas:
Engagement ring etiquette is oh so important, because your chick will be retelling the story of all the details related to her engagement ring and proposal over and over and over....i'm not joking. Here are some common questions that guys have about engagement ring etiquette.
1) Who pays for the ring?
Sorry guys, but you are supposed to foot the entire bill. Plus, you can use this as leverage for the next fifty years when your wife asks you what you've done for her lately. You can point to her ring and recount the many hours you toiled saving up for it. If your financial situation sucks, consider gettting a less expensive ring now and upgrading later or taking out a loan. Is it fair? No, but life isn't always fair.
2) Must the engagement ring be a surprise or does the bride pick out her own ring?
The ring does not necessarily have to be a surprise. In the past, engagement ring etiquette dictated that the man choose the ring, and then presentit if the woman accepted his marriage proposal. Today many couples purchase the ring together. Or, the woman may drop some hints about the kind of ring that she wants, so that it is still somewhat of a surprise. It is always kosher for the groom to present the ring as a surprise. He may want to enlist the help of her friends or family members in choosing a ring that she will love and fits with her style. There is an episode of Sex and the City where the lead character Carrie comes across the engagement ring that her man is going to give her in the near future, while he is in the shower. She gets physically ill when she finds out that it is a pear shaped diamond on a gold band. Luckily, one of her friends tactfully intervenes to help him out with the ring purchase. The pear-shaped ring is returned and replaced with one that is more Carrie-esque.
3) Do I have to call her parents beforehand and ask for their blessing to go ahead and propose?
I would strongly recommend that you do. It is a very classy way to seal the deal. Her parents will feel respected and it is a good way for you to begin your relationship with them. After all, they will become members of your family after the wedding.
4) Does engagement ring etiquette call for me to get down on one knee when I propose?
It is romantic and chivalrous to get down on one knee and propose. If you don't do it and I wouldn't sweat it too much, but it is a nice touch. Keep in mind that it is pretty much guaranteed that your woman will be asked by one of her girlfriends in the aftermath of the proposal if you did.
5) Who do we tell first about the engagement
If you want to go by the rules of enagement ring etiquette, the bride's parents are told the news first, followed by the groom's parents. Whatever you do, don't keep the news from parents, as this will only start things off on the wrong foot. Close family and friends can be told soon after, followed by an announcement in the local paper.
6) God forbid one of us breaks off the engagement, what happens to the ring?
It depends on the woman you are dating as well as the state you are living in. If a woman breaks off the engagement than engagement ring etiquette dictates that she should promptly return the ring. However if the guy breaks off the engagement because it's just not meant to be, it's a little more questionable. Engagement ring etiquette dictates that if the guy is a gentleman, he may tell the woman to hold onto it, depending on his financial circumstances. Of course, what woman really wants to hold onto an engagement ring from a guy who just dumped her. (This happened to a girl in my sorority and she kept the ring but turned it into a pendant). However, I think if the engagement is being broken off because the guy has done something heinous (i.e. cheated on his fiance with her best friend) than he should let her keep the ring. The actual laws on returning engagement rings vary from state to state with some requiring that the ring must be given back because it was a gift with other states viewing engagement rings as unconditional gifts that the bride can keep regardless of the circumstances. A friend of mine ended up going to court over her ring after the engagement was broken off....yikes!...it's a long complicated story! Hopefully this is not something that you will have to even consider
